A perfect foundation for a beautiful table.
Here is a Chinese export canton famille rose basket & undertray, circa 1875.
The basket rim is edged in gold.
The border is decorated with a pattern of colorful flowers and arabesques interspersed with alternating cartouches of Chinese figures and flowers.
The interior is decorated with a central medallion of a bird and flowers and alternating panels of Chinese figures and flowers.
The undertray rim is also edged in gold.
The center is decorated with a central medallion of a bird and flowers and alternating panels of Chinese figures and flowers mimicking the basket.
The reverse is undecorated.
I have also listed a similar basket and undertray which make a lovely near pair.
