An exceptionally rare and visually striking “Gabbiano” rocking chaise lounge designed by Karin Silva Gil for the renowned Italian manufacturer Giovannetti. The chaise is characterized by its sweeping ergonomic silhouette, formed as a continuous reclining surface supported by dramatic curved rocker legs in black lacquered wood or metal. The generously proportioned body creates a floating, wave-like profile that encourages relaxed lounging while functioning as a sculptural centerpiece. Upholstered in black leather with vivid pink accents, the chair features an exuberant feather-filled lumbar cushion and matching cylindrical headrest, introducing a bold Memphis-inspired palette and tactile contrast. The vibrant detailing reflects the postmodern spirit associated with avant-garde Italian interiors of the era. Combining sensual curves with whimsical decorative elements, the “Gabbiano” balances comfort, humor, and sculptural sophistication — hallmarks of Giovannetti’s innovative approach to furniture design. in vintage condition with visible age-related wear throughout. Leather upholstery shows patina, scuffs, fading, and areas of surface cracking, particularly to the pink headrest cushion. Minor wear and scratches to the rocker structure and frame. Feather cushion remains visually vibrant with expected signs of age and handling. Overall structurally sound and highly decorative. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
