This is a beautiful and highly documented Sheldon Swirl Kerosene Lamp. The lamp features a striking Blue Opalescent Reverse Swirl font mounted on a colorless leaf-patterned glass base.
The hardware includes a No. 1 Taplin-Brown collar and is fitted with a period-correct No. 1 Plume & Atwood "Banner" slip burner. It is topped with a colorless chimney featuring a decorative scalloped top rim.
Provenance & Historical Importance: This piece carries elite provenance, having been part of the personal collection of Catherine Thuro, the renowned author of the definitive guides on oil lamps. It also belonged to the noted collection of Carol and the late Dale Meyer of Lexington, VA. The lamp and chimney both retain their original "Thuro Collection" inventory stickers.
