Egon Eiermann was a prominent German furniture designer known for his functional and minimalist designs. Among other things, he designed this famous "office folding chair" in 1952.

Eiermann's chair was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1953, at the Ulm School of Design in 1955, and at the Brussels World's Fair in 1958.
