Offering an elegant vintage solid brass occasional table featuring a richly detailed neoclassical-inspired base with scrolling feet and decorative foliate casting. The circular tray-form top is finished with a warm wood inset center surrounded by an ornate brass gallery edge with finely cast braided detailing and is painted in a deep faux finish maroon with very small black accent touches. The sculptural tripod support rises gracefully from a stepped square base, giving the piece both lightness and architectural presence.
This table works beautifully as a side table, drinks table, lamp table, or pedestal display stand in both traditional and eclectic interiors. The warm brass patina pairs especially well with Hollywood Regency, French Empire, Maison Jansen, and neoclassical décor.
This solid brass table is extremely heavy and substantial. It's in very good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear and patina to the brass surface. Minor surface wear to the top consistent with use; various nicks and scratches.
The solid brass construction, the decorative gallery edge, the tripod support, the acanthus and scroll motifs, and the wood-inset tray top all strongly suggest an American luxury decorator piece inspired by French Empire and Maison Jansen designs. It resembles work associated with makers such as La Barge. Similar brass tray and gueridon tables from the Hollywood Regency period are frequently associated with American production from Michigan, North Carolina, or imported Italian decor.
Two of the four feet are different from the others in the respect that the scroll at the bottom, where the foot meets the floor, isnot aligned straight as the others are; the "ball" is off to the side. Whether two feet were cast differently or the table was, in effect, dropped I don't know. The table, as mentioned, is very heavy, so if someone picked it up and then dropped it on a foot, this might happen, although I doubt it since there's no other suggestion of any damage. In any case this doesn't have any impact on the stability or balance of the table -- it sits level and sturdy. One of the decorative round brass accent pieces is missing from the banded gallery.
Dimensions: About 23 across, 29 1/2 high. About 16 inches from toe to toe.
