It features a floral botanical design by the famed French designer and illustrator, Jules Habert Dys (1850-1925). Habert Dys is known for his fanciful decorative designs for ceramics, wallpapers, textiles, vases, etc. His work is intricate and exquisite and is very much influenced by Japanese aesthetics. Habert Dys' works are found in museums and library collections around the world and are often sold at auctions. This chromolithograph reflects the influence of Asian culture with its use on nature-inspired forms. The organic, sinuous lines are blended into the motifs of the vases. The lithograph is in horizontal format.. Please note the use of metallic gold inks on the background of the pink florals. Metallic inks were quite rare and unique to the period. This feature is exquisite and even more beautiful in reality. The lithograph is pristine with clean borders. It is signed by Habert DYs in lower right. 12 x 9 inches in size. Works by Habert Dys have become more difficult to find with the passage of time. This, along with the others offered in our shop, would make wonderful home decor. See less
