Measuring a generous 10 inches in diameter, this substantial piece showcases the exceptional traditional craftsmanship of mid-20th-century European art glass. The bowl was imported by Philadelphia retailers Ebeling & Reuss, and is not marked, as is usual.

Design & Craftsmanship

Crafted using the classic overlay technique, a vibrant ruby-red flash layer is seamlessly fused over a brilliant, heavy clear crystal body. The bowl features an intricately hand-engraved pattern of delicate floral swags, scrolling vines, and stylized daisy wheels.
The wheel-cut detailing pierces cleanly through the rich red exterior to expose the shimmering clear crystal underneath. The exterior motifs boast a beautifully frosted, matte finish that offers a sophisticated contrast to the glossy ruby fields. The base is finished with a traditional ground and polished starburst cut, which brilliantly refracts light from every angle.

Condition

Excellent Vintage Condition: This piece is free of chips, cracks, or deep scratches. The glass remains incredibly bright and clear, with minimal, negligible shelf wear to the underside of the base consistent with age and careful display.
