The heavy oxidation patterns inside the bowl and beneath the footing reveal a layered fabrication process: a cast base cast metal, sealed with a thick white gesso , and finished with water gilt.
The wide, flaring upper rim and the pedestal foot both display classical egg-and-dart (gadrooned) carvings, a core element of Greco-Roman architecture. The vase anchors onto a thick, stepped square plinth to provide structural stability for floral or centerpiece displays.
The lower hemisphere of the central bowl is accented by soft, embossed geometric cresting loops that create a stylized gadrooned effect.

Originally intended as an architectural mantle centerpiece or table jardinière, its low, wide-rimmed bowl configuration is optimized for holding artificial florals, historical fruit displays, or a fitted liner for small house plants.

Condition: Dramatic chipping, oxidation, and surface loss are visible along the inner basin liner and around the bottom edges of the base plinth. This shows white plaster-like casting compound or primer peeking through, typical of weathered vintage pieces or outdoor-adapted architectural ornaments.
