An interesting porcelain inkwell set with sander
Designed as a figural group it features a very detailed scene of two nobility couples in rococo attire sitting around a table playing cards.
The figurines are hand painted with polychrome enamels and gilt highlights
The whole composition lifts off to expose a tray with an attached inkwell and removable sander. The two recipients are decorated with mascarons - mythical faces with long mustaches
I 30 , possibly a model number, is scratched at two places on the underside of the figural top
Circa 1880's, made by Conta & Boehme, Germany
Measurements: Approximately 9" x 6.5" x 7" high altogether
It weighs 4 lbs. 14 oz.
Condition: Good / Very Good overall. Please see photos. Some hard to notice small details are missing, the left hand of the man dressed in blue, some items from the table, a curved border of the brown settee. Altogether these are unobtrusive and commensurate with age and use. All original
