The handle … Read more A late 19th century English hand bell with with a decorative wooden handle probably lignum vitae or rosewood. The handle is topped by a large brass finial and the attachment to the metal bell is by an ornate ferrule. It has been professionally polished and lacquered. Note the difference between the bell itself and the brass attachments, the darker, redder color is due to it being bell metal rather than plane brass and the reason for its wonderful tone. See less
