Antique exquisitely carved Japanese high back, dark red (looks almost black) lacquer arm chair featuring a three toed dragon. Note how the arms, back and crown imitate blossoming tree limbs, with a pair of detailed quail nesting at the top. It's a stunning example of Japanese 19th Century, Meiji period, hand carved furniture made for export. In as found condition with wear to the seat.
The chair is sturdy with a slight movement to both arms and minor blemishes and imperfections to the dark red lacquered finish. There are a few fine separation lines where the joined wood has shrunk.
