Ornate viennese belle époque table clock in gilt silver with enamel and gemstone inlay, set on a rectangular stepped base with bevelled corners and relief bands featuring coloured enamel decoration; the top is extensively inlaid with lapis lazuli, from which rises, centrally in the background, the column-shaped clock case; front and sides feature the finest floral enamel decorations, crowned by a flower vase fashioned from a large coral bead with sculptural floral and foliage motifs in gold-plated silver set with coloured gemstones and strings of freshwater pearls; in the foreground, two figurative representations: a dancer and a musician with a harp-like instrument, both set with gemstones and freshwater pearls. Glass bezel opens at the side, movement lifts upwards, white dial painted with black arabic numerals, movement inspected by a master watchmaker, fully cleaned and in full working order, winding key included. Made around 1880 dimensions: height: 19,5 cm / 7.67 in width: 17,5 cm / 6.88 in depth: 10,0 cm / 3.93 in weight: 880 grams / 28.29 troy oz hallmarks: 'sg.800' in pentagon - manufacturer's mark: 800 silver fineness / 'sg' presumably simon grünwald goldsmith (artistic gold and silverware), trade licence granted in 1873, practised until 1903. Participated in various exhibitions in vienna (1876/77 austrian museum of art and industry – certificate of recognition – metal objects with inlay-style decoration in gold and silver), trieste 1882 (silver jewellery items with imitation inlay. Business card holders, writing sets, smoking sets, enamelware and imitation antiques. Awards: paris 1878 (silver medal), vienna 1876 (diploma), vienna 1880 (bronze medal), teplitz 1879 (gold medal), frankfurt am main (silver medal) bibliography: waltraud neuwirth, wiener gold-und silberschmiede und ihre punzen (= viennese gold-and silversmiths and their signs), vol. I , a-k, vienna 1976, page 223. Very well maintained condition: enamel in very good condition, a few gemstones are missing. Movement inspected by a master watchmaker, fully cleaned and in full working order, winding key included. Movement checked by a master clockmaker, completely cleaned and fully functional, original keys existing. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
