The painted porcelain snuff bottle has a interesting shape of a moon flask, a very popular ceramic form. One side is painted with roosters in famille rose colors. Two roosters are placed in a rose garden. On the other side are three characters meaning "The Great Auspicious Picture." The base of the bottle has a recessed foot and a mark in the shape of an artemisia leaf. It is marched with a round green agate stopper. There is no spoon but one will be provided.
Roosters are colorful art motifs in Chinese art. Roosters symbolize high virtues, protection, and prosperity, serving as a powerful, auspicious emblem often linked to luck, courage, and sun worship. They are considered "Birds of Five Virtues" and represent the Yang element, acting as spiritual guardians that scare away evil spirits with their dawn-crowing. Roses are symbols of beauty and riches. It is indeed a very auspicious snuff bottle.
A small teak stand is included with the snuff bottle.
