He often reinterpreted traditional and historical objects with a Mid-century design twist such as this traditional bowl known as an "Ölgås" made from Pine. An “Ölgås”, is a wooden bowl with a bird neck handle, was used on festive occasions to pass around beer, a tradition which stems from the Vikings. His practice is characterized by a strong respect for natural materials, allowing the grain, texture, and tone of the wood to guide the final form. Drawing inspiration from Nordic landscapes, wildlife, and folk art, Mattsson creates pieces that balance simplicity with intricate detail.

Working primarily by hand, he demonstrates exceptional technical skill, transforming solid blocks of wood into sculptural objects with a sense of movement and life. His work often reflects the principles of Scandinavian design—functionality, minimalism, and an appreciation for craftsmanship—while maintaining a distinctly artistic and personal expression.

It is 36cm high, 20cm wide and 26cm deep (14.17"x 7.87"x 10.23) signed with his initials and year 1959 it is in a really good vintage condition with only a small dent in the wood. This piece has an attribution mark,
