An antique hand-hammered copper basin or jam pot, likely of French or English origin and dating to the late 19th century. The wide, flared form with rolled rim reflects traditional utilitarian design associated with jam and confit preparation, where broad surface area facilitated evaporation.
The exterior displays a dense hammered texture, while the interior shows oxidation and mineral buildup consistent with age and use.
The copper has developed a layered patina with tonal variation, enhancing its visual depth. At 14.5 inches in diameter and substantial weight, the piece offers strong presence as a decorative vessel, suitable for use as a centerpiece, planter, or kitchen display within farmhouse and French country interiors.
