Step into the lush, botanical world of the 19th century with this original 1890 chromolithograph from Jean Jules Linden’s world-renowned Lindenia: Iconographie des Orchidées. Plate CCLV features the striking Cirrhopetalum mastersianum, a masterpiece of botanical precision by artist Alphonse Goossens and lithographer P. De Pannemaeker.
At Turtle and Crane, our motto is "Turning the Past into Stunning Decor for Today," and this piece perfectly embodies that mission. We’ve elevated this 130-year-old treasure with a professional slub linen mat, whose rich, nubby texture provides a sophisticated, organic counterpoint to the vibrant yellow florals. Housed in a classic gilt wood frame with an elegant, aged luster, it captures that coveted Palm Beach Regency aesthetic with effortless ease.
This print is for the collector who values authenticity over mass-production. It carries a genuine historical patina, including water-staining and foxing at the base that occurred long before its archival framing. In a high-end Maximalist or Chinoiserie interior—perhaps alongside the works of Dorothy Draper or Tony Duquette—these "beauty marks" of time offer a level of character and provenance that new prints simply cannot match. It is a soulful, high-key statement piece designed to be the crown jewel of your gallery wall.

The print itself exhibits a visible "historical patina" consistent with its 130-year age, most notably a distinct area of water-staining and light foxing at the bottom of the plate (as seen in photographs). Please note that these markings occurred prior to the professional framing process and have been intentionally preserved to authenticate the print’s antique origin and storied journey from the 19th-century Belgian atelier. The bespoke slub linen mat is pristine and free of pulls or odors. The gilt wood frame is in excellent vintage condition with a soft, aged luster and only minor, negligible surface wear consistent with careful handling. less
