Mid 19th century davenport writing desk circa 1840.
Good quality early Victorian davenport of elegant proportions.
Green leather with gold tooling writing surface, completed by a spindle gallery to the top tier. Hinged lid opens to reveal a partially fitted interior of 3 satinwood drawers and 2 dummy drawers which house the pull out pen tray and ink bottle storage which is accessed from the side. Fall pulls forward when being seated at.
Fitted with 4 drawers to the side with beaded edging and ornate brass handles. Fitted with bramah locks, but sadly no key. Raised on 4 fluted Bun feet with concealed brass castors.
Recently re-polished by hand which showcases the palisander timber grain to its best. Later replaced leather surface. Minor surface marks to woodwork and natural fading in LINE with age and use.
