The satin … Read more An early 20th-century American frosted glass perfume bottle, produced during the Depression era and exhibiting manganese-based UV reactivity. The satin finish is original to manufacture—achieved through acid-etching or mold treatment—contrasting with the later-developed lavender tonality, which results from prolonged ultraviolet exposure acting on manganese used as a glass clarifier.

Under blacklight, the bottle fluoresces a vivid purple, a diagnostic trait of manganese glass widely used in American production prior to World War II. The form—a flattened circular body with a short neck and fitted faceted stopper—aligns with mass-produced vanity articles of the 1920s–1930s.

Comparable examples were produced by major American glasshouses including Jeannette Glass Company, Hazel-Atlas Glass Company, and Federal Glass Company.
