Here we have a pair of great-looking, richly textured woven wicker chairs. Could possibly be an early version of or a model inspired by, Anna-Lülja Praun's "Sessel für das Café Wintergarten der Hofburg" (Armchair for the Café Wintergarten of the Hofburg). One could also say they look like a combination of Praun's chair with elements of Dirk Van Sliedregt's dining chairs for Rohe Noordwolde.

Though these pieces could use a good restoration if desired, they could also be left in their present condition as decorative sculptures in your home or office because the color and texture is just so darn pretty. Monuments to early-to-mid century design there could be a good fit in just about any design aesthetic.

Anna-Lülja Praun (1906 - 2004) was an Austrian architect and designer who was one of the first women to study architecture at Graz University of Technology in the 1920s. In 1981, she was honoured with the City of Vienna Prize for Applied Arts and In 2001, she received the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art. See less
