For sale is an unusual late 19th century English silverplate equestrian boot form pepper shaker and mustard cruet set. These were part of an equestrian condiment set that also included a jockey cap salt cellar and tray. The last pic shows the complete set. This listing includes just the 2 boot form pieces. In the victorian era novelty equestrian items in sterling and, more commonly, silverplate were produced by a number of English silversmiths. As only the trays were hallmarked, it is unknown which particular shop made these. The pepper shaker has a screw top. The mustard cruet has a hinged top and was originally sold with a polo mallet form spoon. 3 1/8" tall and weigh a hefty 4 OZ each. If desired, these could be used for salt and pepper with the mustard cruet used as a pepper cellar.
