So Asian in feeling and so Patrick Dragon. From the artist himself: "My wheel-thrown earthenware bowl forms are burnished and covered with fine particles of decanted clay called terra sigillata. The exterior surface remains porous after each firing, allowing me to build up layers of clary and color. The interiors are double-glazed creating richly contrasting color and textures... Much of my work is sagger-fired in wood facilitating the subtle color variations of gray, Black and red."
Patrick's work is in the White House Collection of American Crafts in Washington, DC.
I'm a contemporary fine craft collector in downsizing mode. You can feel Patrick's hands and spirit in this piece. Please enjoy it as much as I have!
