G.A. Pfretzschner violin in case, modeled after an Antonius Stradivarius-Cremonae 1716.
This violin is lovely. The allover wood graining and quality of this piece is incredible. It has what appears to be an original case, also made of wood, with a travel sticker from the New Mayflower Hotel, which opened in Jacksonville, Florida in 1929.
The G.A. Pfretzschner firm traces its roots back to Carl Gustave Pfretzschner in 1834. The Pfretzschner family operated as major dealers and makers of fine string instruments and bows in Markneukirchen, which was the epicenter of German violin making. Their instruments were distributed worldwide. They are known for their rich tones.
