Excellent Pre-Owned Condition.
With its French Provincial look-and-feel, this mahogany wood beauty exudes an inimitable classic design style where traditional and unconventional intertwine. With a long and deep rectangular body, the table begins with a lovely herringbone or zigzag-style parquetry inlay on the tabletop and on the door front (original brass pull). Toward the back of the tabletop, there is a nifty three-slot storage bonus that is perfectly suited for keeping any type of media i.e. books magazines, etc. stylishly tucked away. The table is raised on short cabriole legs ending in whorl feet. Thoughtfully well-made with corner block construction; stained and lacquered umber hued finish. Finished on all four sides with sublime single scallop aprons. This beauty measures as follows:
Overall: 20¼” x 15” x 27” H/W/D
Cabinet compartment: 11¼” x 9” x 16¼” H/W/D
Tabletop inset (parquetry part toward the front): 14¼” x 9½” L/W
Three-slot tabletop media storage (toward the back): each slot is 6” x 2” x 9½” H/W/D
Weight: approximately 40 lbs.
We are guesstimating that this beauty was made in the United States sometime in the 1960s to early 1970s by an unknown maker in the manner and quality of Ethan Allen or Drexel/Heritage and Century furniture. On the underside (see photo) there is only a makers stenciled number, possible a model number. Structurally sound and sturdy and in overall excellent condition with age-appropriate wear such as random scuff marks to the tabletop. Because of the table’s size and weight, we have discerned it to be too bulky to parcel ship and have chosen to offer it as an In-Home Delivery piece to ensure it gets to its new owner in the same condition as when it leaves us.
This beauty’s charming French Provincial look-and-feel is transitional, complementing most any design sensibility. It will make a marvelous statement tucked in between two nicely sized club chairs, bedside in a guest bedroom or alongside a wingback chair in a study or library.
