This Murano glass bowl by Archimede Seguso, produced in Italy circa 1960s, is formed in a stylized clam shell design and executed in pink alabastro glass. The composition is defined by its softly undulating silhouette, with ruffled, scalloped edges that fold inward at each end, creating a sculptural, shell-like presence. The interior reveals a rich pink alabastro core, subtly diffused and encased within a milky white layer, all suspended within clear crystal, producing depth and tonal variation characteristic of Murano glassmaking. Vertical ribbing along the exterior enhances the sense of movement, drawing the eye toward the gently flared rim. The bowl is finished with a polished base and an additional flat polished section to the reverse, allowing for versatile display either upright or resting flat. A refined example of mid-century Murano craftsmanship, demonstrating Seguso’s mastery of layered glass and organic form. Condition: Very good condition with no chips or damage. Minor firing flaws visible between the ridges, consistent with the manufacturing process.
