Rare set of two matching vintage die cut cardboard and tissue paper four-sided Halloween lanterns. Each lantern is made of die cut black cardboard with orange crepe paper inset and a square bottom piece to insert for stability. Both lanterns have four different panels: a witch on a broom, an arched black cat, an owl on a branch and a black bat, and each panel is topped with an arched panel, two of which are pumpkins and two of which are are devil faces. Made in Germany in the 1930s, possibly Beistle. Please see photos for detail and condition!
Each lantern measures approximately 3 1/2" square by 6 1/2" high.
Condition consistent with age and use. There is wear to the black cardboard edges and minor creases. One end tab is detached on one base (detached piece included). One lantern has the original hanging wire and the other does not. Structure is sound and crepe paper undamaged and in place. Displays well. Please see photos for details and condition.
