The Doll with a black wig and maroon red kimono with white blossoms and green leaves is a vintage Sosaku Kokeshi doll, specially a "Blossom" model crafted by artist Seifu Gono. The doll is hand turned and painted.
This 10 inch high pretty Sosaku (creative) style Kokeshi dolls has a sweet face.. Her much exaggerated large black hair compliments the her form. The uneven length wig is a unique feature of Seifu Gono. The outstanding feature of her face are the downcast eyes which made the absence of facial features unimportant. The artist's name in three characters are on a black seal found at the bottom of the doll.5
