This luminous egg-shaped glass Casket (trinket Box or jewelry Box) is made of rare green opaline – sometimes known as Jade Green - mounted in a ornamental ormolu bronze support. The Casket is hinged and has a leaf shaped lift clasp.

Dating from the latter part of the nineteenth century the Casket it is in good condition, with the exception of hairline crack along the bottom half of the egg. (see Condition). The ornate Ormalu handles with leaf-shaped details, are in excellent condition; all details appear intact. The piece has been in a private decorative arts collection for at least 4 decades.

Dimensions: Width of glass egg alone is 4 ¾”; height of Glass egg alone is just under 3”. Width of full piece including ormolu handles is 7”; height of full piece including ormolu base is 5”. See less
