This sculpture is cast in Durastone—Austin’s proprietary high-density stone composite—giving it a substantial weight and a deeply textured, rock-like surface. Signed and dated 'Austin Prod Inc 1977' on the reverse, the piece is mounted on its original dark-finish wooden plinth, making it an ideal textural accent for a Mid-Century or Brutalist-inspired interior.

It has not been possible to securely establish that this sculpture was designed by Sever. But it’s likely as she was the primary artist working for Austin in the late 70’s. The maker chop is readily identifiable. However, right after the copyright symbol there is additional markings which appears to be more signature like than the company chop. So far we haven’t been able to associate it with a particular artist. See less
