The frame is executed in cerused wood, showcasing a subtle, weathered grain that adds depth without overpowering the form. The structure features gently flared arms and a tailored silhouette—minimal but not cold, making it an easy fit across a wide range of interiors.
The upholstery is rendered in a soft, neutral velvet, offering both comfort and visual warmth. Paired with loose back cushions, the piece strikes a balance between structured design and relaxed livability—exactly what designers look for in modern seating.

Cerused Wood: All About The Furniture Finish
Cerused wood is a decorative wood finish that highlights the natural grain by filling its pores with a contrasting white or light-colored wax or paste.
What is Cerused Wood?
Cerused wood, also known as limed wood, limed oak, or pickled wood, is a finishing technique that emphasizes the natural texture and grain of wood by filling its open pores with a white or light-colored substance, traditionally ceruse, a white lead-based pigment. Today, safer alternatives like liming wax—a blend of wax and white paste—are used to achieve the same effect. The finish mutes the wood’s original color while creating a striking contrast that accentuates the grain.
History
The technique dates back to 16th-century Europe, where ceruse was initially used as a cosmetic to whiten skin. Craftsmen later adapted it for wood to protect surfaces and prevent rot, particularly in oak beams. Cerused wood gained popularity again during the Art Deco era and has seen a modern revival in contemporary interior design.
Suitable Wood Types
Cerusing works best on open-grained hardwoods, such as oak, mahogany, and other ring-porous woods, because their large pores hold the liming wax effectively. Bare or stained wood produces the most dramatic effect, while painted wood yields a subtler finish due to filled pores.
