A solid brass humidor made by Bradley & Hubbard, known for their high-quality American metalwork. The surface has a textured, vertical pattern with a flared base and a domed lid topped with a finial. It was originally designed for storing tobacco, but works just as well today as a lidded jar for small items.
The form and texture, patina and condition are beautiful and historic, representative of the Arts & Crafts movement. This is a rare shape from Bradley & Hubbard's line of humidors, and I have not seen another.
Bradley & Hubbard was founded in 1852 in Meriden, Connecticut, and produced a wide range of decorative and functional metal pieces. Their work is now collected for its craftsmanship and durability.
This piece has some dings around the inner lid and on the bottom, consistent with age and use. Please see photos. The lid fits nicely when twisted to the right position. The inner ring for a sponge is intact if you wish to use it as a humidor. The patina is a beautiful deep color, left for you to decide whether to keep or polish.
Well suited to traditional interiors, particularly Arts & Crafts-era homes, or anywhere a touch of warmth and character is needed. Can be used as a humidor, canister, or historic sculptural accent.
