Its shallow circular form combines bold ornamental design with the refined craftsmanship characteristic of early twentieth-century Gouda pottery. The exterior is decorated with stylised foliage motifs in russet red, deep gold, and turquoise against a matte black ground, while two concentric patterned bands frame the interior, creating a balanced decorative rhythm across the surface. The Rialto pattern exemplifies the rich graphic language associated with Dutch Art Deco ceramics of this period. The matte glaze gives the bowl its soft, velvety surface quality, diffusing light evenly and enhancing the depth of the enamel decoration without glare. The painted decoration remains vivid and well preserved, retaining the strong colour contrasts prized by collectors of Gouda pottery. Condition is very good for age and use, with minor wear visible to the interior surface. There are no chips, cracks, or structural repairs.
