This large Art Deco porcelain centerpiece bowl by Arkinstall & Sons, produced in Staffordshire, England, circa 1930s as part of the Arcadian range, is finished in a white lustre glaze characteristic of the period’s refined decorative ceramics. Its wide, shallow circular form was originally intended as a centerpiece or fruit bowl, combining practical domestic use with understated sculptural presence. Made from ceramic with a white glazed ground, the bowl is overlaid with an iridescent lustre finish that shifts subtly in changing light, creating a soft pearlescent, almost holographic effect across the surface. The restrained form and clean profile reflect the enduring appeal of Art Deco tableware, where elegant proportion and material finish carry the design. The bowl retains its original Arcadian backstamp to the underside. Its restrained palette and simple silhouette make it adaptable across a range of interiors, from period Art Deco settings to more contemporary minimalist spaces. Condition is good overall for age and use, with visible wear to the lustre glaze, age-related crazing throughout the glaze, and one area of darkening within the crazing at the centre of the bowl. There is no structural damage. Dimensions: Height 4 cm (1.57 in); Diameter 27 cm (10.63 in). This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
