Elegant pair of French Louis XV style fauteuil armchairs crafted in carved walnut, dating to the
Late 19th to Early 20th century. Each chair features a shaped cartouche back with hand-woven cane panels, a serpentine seat rail, and gracefully scrolled arms terminating in carved handholds. The frames are enriched with floral and foliate carving, including a central rosette crest and shell motifs at the arm supports, all characteristic of the Louis XV idiom.
Notably, traces of original polychrome decoration remain visible within the carved details, adding depth and a desirable time-softened patina. The warm walnut tone contrasts beautifully with the natural cane, giving the chairs a refined yet relaxed provincial character.
