This antique utilitarian mixing bowl was likely made sometime in the early 20th century, likely by Ruckel's Pottery of Whitehall, IL. Crafted out of durable stoneware, this bowl was meant to be a kitchen workhorse. Even so, the unique blue glaze and 'Picket Fence' or alternately 'Fence & Rib' (patented in 1904) pattern brought a touch of whimsy to many an American farmhouse kitchen.
Measurements: 7.75" Diameter x 3.75" Height.
Condition: These bowls tend to be quite primitive in their construction - there are glaze pops and some mold marks. There are two small chips in the rim which you can see in the photos. There is also a horizontal crack on the interior of the bowl with a small chip. This is superficial and the bowl is quite structurally sound. It is generally not recommended that these bowls be used for food prep or serving as the old glazes often contained lead.
