This is a beautiful antique Wedgwood Lustre Fairyland bone china bowl, designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones in the 1920s and is … Read more This is a beautiful antique Wedgwood Lustre Fairyland bone china bowl, designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones in the 1920s and is marked pattern number #Z4968. The fairy theme was whimsical and in fashion at this time. The collection was difficult to produce and quantities were limited and it was costly to collect. The themes included fairies, elves and imps moving through complicated scenes filled with botanicals and trees and a central pool at the bottom of the bowl, all highlighted with polychrome colors, gilding and a radiant pearl lustre finish. The bowl is completed by a graceful footed base with an intricate weblike gilded detailing. The Fairyland collection is featured in the book Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre.The Work of Daisy Makeig-Jones, published in 1975. See less
