Black lacquered wood, smoked curved glass, chromed steel fittings, internal compartments in lacquered wood. The napoleone mobile bar designed by claudio salocchi represents a rare and sophisticated example of italian rationalist design from the early 1970s. Its distinctive cylindrical form — capped by a sharply angled smoked glass top — unites geometric precision with refined material contrasts. The pivoting curved glass door opens to reveal a meticulously organized interior storage system with lacquered compartments and dividers for bottles and glassware. The combination of black lacquer, brushed metal hardware, and transparent smoked glass epitomizes the restrained luxury and technological optimism of italy’s modernist era. The piece was produced by mtd (montedison design division), as confirmed by the original manufacturer’s label “articolo garantito design mtd – made in italy,” visible on the base. Excellent vintage condition. Minor surface wear and light scratches consistent with age and use. The glass and metal elements are intact and structurally sound. Salocchi’s napoleone integrates architectural rigor and functional clarity, characteristics that define his design ethos. Known for his collaborations with major italian manufacturers such as bernini, sormani, and mtd, salocchi developed a language in which furniture became a modular system of living. This piece reflects the designer’s interest in futuristic domestic typologies, where sculptural form meets everyday function — a synthesis emblematic of italian industrial design at its most experimental and elegant. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
