Antique Scandinavian painted pine commode. Danish barque of the the period.

Serpentine front typical for the baroque and rococo age with three full width drawers that bow outwards at the center and recede at the sides. Stands on four short curved cabriole legs. Original large wrought iron handles on the side. Beautiful details as the beautiful hand cut dovetail joint and the original backing made with wide hand planed boards.
The exterior is painted in a muted greenish-blue tone with a beautifully aged, distressed patina. The edges and moldings are highlighted in a contrasting reddish color.

The paint has a timeworn, matte character with visible brushstrokes and natural wear, emphasizing its genuine antique authenticity. The paint is original but with touch ups where unoriginal handles on the drawer fronts have been removed. This was done at an unknown time.

Original 18th century locks and key. The brass keyhole plates are not original but a later addition.

Good condition with wear consistent with age and use. See less
