This piece is made of solid wood construction, primarily mahogany. The desk has been ebonized and finished with a lustrous French polish of museum quality. There are five dovetailed drawers on the front of the desk, each with brass hardware. The central door has a working lock and key. The top of the desk is covered with an embossed tan leather enhanced with gold-leaf detailing. The tapered and fluted legs are capped with finely cast bronze feet. There are additional leaves on each side that pull out for added functionality and workspace. This piece is in very nice antique condition with only minor surface wear consistent with age and use.
