Most amethyst snuff bottles are carved, but this one has the deepest color and a very pleasant shape and without carving. It has a flattened form with sloping shoulders and slight taper to the base ending in a concave oval foot. The top is also slightly concave. A very pretty light celadon green stone, probably serpentine is selected as a cap which provides a very good contrast. The cap sits on a black disk, it has a a wooden stopper and bone spoon. The cap is specially made because when closed it fives out a loud snap.
