This large-scale horizontal display features two primary fragments from an antique ceremonial cape: a curved ornamental collar and a significant spade-shaped back panel. While the silhouette is distinctly European—designed for the Spanish ecclesiastical or courtly markets—the execution is a masterwork of Northern Indian Zardozi. The heavy off white silk ground is entirely embellished with high-relief metallic gold and silver threads, hand-stitched by master artisans in the workshops of India or Pakistan. The needlework features a lush Baroque floral composition of scrolling vines and shimmering sequins, utilizing coiling and bullion techniques far more sculptural than traditional European goldwork of the era. Professionally float-mounted on a textured cream linen ground, this 56-inch vertical display functions as a "textile monument," bridging the gap between Western liturgical form and Eastern artisanal mastery. As an authentic 19th-century artifact, this vestment is presented in its Original Antique Condition. The silk exhibits a magnificent time-earned ivory patina, and the metallic threads show honest, beautiful oxidation that highlights the piece's storied history. Minor surface wear and soft edge variations are celebrated as essential proof of its unique provenance and ceremonial journey across continents. See less
