This curated pair offers a compelling look at the evolution of 18th and 19th-century lighting forms. We are offering these as a "married pair," combining a rare mechanical ejector piece with an elegant threaded baluster chamberstick. Both items retain a heavy, unpolished "estate" patina, showcasing rich oxidation and decades of character.
Item 1: The High-Victorian Threaded Baluster (Quebec Provenance)
A sophisticated example of mid-to-late 19th-century brass casting.
• Masterful Construction: The baluster-form stem features precision-machined, uniform threads that allow it to be unscrewed from the dished base. This was a hallmark of quality brassware in the 1800s, designed for deep cleaning and durability.
• The "Marriage" Snuffer: This piece is paired with a beautiful bell-style snuffer featuring a twisted handle. Note: The snuffer is a vintage mid-century addition (stamped "Japan") that fits the original S-curve bracket perfectly, completing the historic silhouette for display.
• Found History: The underside retains a worn, handwritten paper label from August 1981, Quebec, Canada, where a previous dealer cataloged it as an "Antique Brass Candle Holder."
Item 2: The Mechanical Ejector & Conical Snuffer
A heavy-cast, industrial-style chamberstick designed for utility and longevity.
• Functional Detail: Features a side-mounted mechanical "ejector" button on the column, used to lift the candle stub as it burned down.
• Design: Includes its original, heavy-gauge conical snuffer that nests into a specialized handle attachment. This piece is a single-cast unit with a deep-dish wax pan and a rich, mottled dark-gold patina.

The long-handled snuffer on the baluster piece is a vintage mid-century replacement marked "Japan." • Finish: Sold in as-found condition. The brass shows heavy tarnishing, verdigris spots, and minor surface pitting consistent with age. We have chosen not to polish these to preserve their antique integrity. • Mechanicals (Item 1): The threaded baluster stem remains smooth and easily unscrews from the base. • Mechanicals (Item 2): The candle ejector mechanism is firm and intact. Like many authentic period pieces, it requires a deliberate touch to operate due to age and internal patina. It is functional but has the "stiff" feel characteristic of a 19th-century mechanical tool. Dimensions (Approximate) • Chamberstick 1: 8" H | 6" Base Diameter • Chamberstick 2: 6.5" H | 5.5" Base Diameter Shop Note: At Last Frontier Nostalgia, we pride ourselves on transparent research. We've highlighted the specific "Japan" marking on the accessory snuffer to ensure you know exactly what you are adding to your collection. less
