A charming and characterful piece of American Victorian furniture, this late 19th-century oak washstand is a wonderful example of everyday antique craftsmanship at its finest. Solid quarter-sawn oak construction showcases the wood's naturally beautiful grain pattern throughout, with the warm honey tones that only 130+ years of aging can produce.
The piece features a full-width top drawer flanked by two ornate brass rosette pulls, two deeper lower drawers on the left with original decorative bail handles, and a cabinet door on the right — originally used to discreetly house a chamber pot. The scalloped apron along the base adds a graceful, feminine touch typical of the Victorian era.
All original brass hardware remains intact and full of character. The sturdy tapered legs and solid wood construction speak to the quality built into American furniture of this period.
