Made in Superior Stone China, these plates reflect the English interpretation of traditional Imari designs, using a balanced palette of underglaze cobalt blue, iron red, and gilt accents. The decoration features a stylized garden or courtyard scene, framed by floral and geometric borders typical of the period.

Both plates retain their original printed marks to the reverse, including “J-R” for John Ridgway, “Superior Stone China”, and pattern number 4924, consistent with production in the early Victorian era.

Offered as a pair, they work especially well for symmetrical wall display or as part of a layered decorative arrangement. At the same time, they remain authentic early 19th century pieces, representing a well-regarded Staffordshire maker and a classic decorative style that continues to be collected.
