Figures were dressed in richly detailed versions of everyday and festive clothing from Naples and the surrounding Kingdom of Naples. These figures were hand-crafted and part of elaborate Christmas nativity scenes. They included peasants, nobles, merchants, and street vendors, each in socially accurate attire. Garments were created from real textiles: silk, velvet, and linen, and handwoven textiles.
This figure represents a woman with remarkable realism and character, featuring a polychromed terracotta head and articulated wooden limbs. Great attention to detail is seen in her facial expression, hand gestures, and costume. She is dressed in layered garments including a fitted bodice, long skirt, and apron, all accented with intricate trims and period appropriate detailing. Notably, the underside of the apron bears handwritten Italian inscriptions, adding a rare and personal historical element (possibly workshop markings or devotional notes). This female figure embodies the storytelling spirit and craftsmanship of this era in Naples. Figure is mounted on a custom wooden base for display.
