This "Japanned" masterpiece features a scalloped silhouette and a jet-black lacquered finish, heavily adorned with hand-painted gilt (gold leaf) filigree and vibrant Mother of Pearl (MOP) floral inlays. The iridescent shell work remains remarkably intact, catching the light with a luminous, multi-colored glow.
Designed for the sophisticated collector, this piece opens to reveal its original faded peachy/flesh velvet writing surface. The interior is remarkably complete, featuring the original removable pen tray and stationery compartments.
