An exceptional 19th-century Masonic Officer’s Collar from the Knights Templar Grand Encampment, likely originating from the Dakota Territory (circa 1880–1890). Originally designed to be worn around the shoulders to suspend a jewel of office, this artifact is a rare surviving example of Victorian-era "Fuller Regalia" craftsmanship.
Design & Detail
The collar is masterfully constructed from luminous moss-green and salmon-pink silk with a sophisticated diamond-quilted texture. This vibrant, two-tone palette serves as a high-relief backdrop for elaborate metallic passementerie. The entire perimeter is bordered by heavy gold-tone bullion fringe, while the lower terminals are finished with weighted metallic tassels and decorative hardware.
Styling Note
This piece is a premier candidate for professional shadowbox framing. Its elegant U-shaped silhouette and shimmering materials make it a sophisticated architectural accent for a library, study, or refined entryway. It offers a soulful, "found object" alternative to traditional framed art.
Provenance Note
This piece was sourced from the private estate of a prominent Hollywood interior designer. It was part of a personal collection of rare architectural and textile artifacts, selected for its exceptional hand-wrought detail and historical significance.
Condition
Very Good Antique Condition. The silk retains its structural integrity and vibrant, high-contrast coloring with minor age-appropriate wear. The metallic bullion fringe shows a handsome, authentic patina. Features the original Fuller Regalia & Costume Co. (Worcester, MA) maker's label on the reverse.
Dimensions
16" L (21" including tassels) x 3.25" W
Collector's Note
This collar is one of three unique 19th-century Knights Templar ceremonial pieces currently available in our gallery. While each is a standalone masterwork of Victorian textile art, they are tonally and historically compatible, offering a rare opportunity to acquire a graduated set for a sophisticated interior installation.
