Direct from England, a striking boat-form etagere (bookcase) featuring gilt fish decoupage on a deep black lacquered background.

This etagere bookcase is part of a small group of similarly decorated pieces we have acquired, created by skilled artists using a decoupage technique in a coordinated black and gold decorative style with chinoiserie influence.

The 4 ft. boat-form is richly decorated with gilt fish decoupage along the entire length of each side, set against a deep black lacquered background. The slender form includes full-length gold Greek key borders outlining the case edges, as well as the fronts of the three full length fixed shelves. A lower storage drawer is framed in Greek key banding, with a continuation of the fish decoupage to the drawer front.

The excellent attention to detail by the artist gives this unique etagere a strong visual presence and a refined decorative appeal. Tall and slender, it is well suited as a statement display piece in any room of your home or second home, including a hunting lodge or fishing retreat.
