This blue and white porcelain vessel appears to be a Chinese brush washer, traditionally used in calligraphy to rinse ink from brushes. It features a classic design with five-clawed dragons—symbols of power and strength—often chasing a flaming pearl amidst scrolling clouds and waves.
This particular bowl is a reproduction of some made in the Qing Dynasty as it bears the mark on the bottom…please note this is a reproduction made most likely in the late 20th century.
Today it would fill many uses … float fresh flowers or house an orchid in it.
