This scalloped Kutani porcelain bowl is decorated in the classic manner with a polychrome figural scene depicting court ladies in a garden setting with architecture, flowering trees, and a lantern, all framed within an iron-red scalloped rim with gilt detail. The painting is finely executed with good color throughout, and the lobed form is a traditional Kutani shape. The base is unglazed at the foot rim and unmarked.
