This is a vintage Japanese metal floor vase colored by a vibrant hand painted red ground with a bird in flight and a tree, slightly embellished with mother of pearl inlay. The vase stands 16 inches tall and 9 inches wide. Attached to the bottom is a red and gold UCAGCO ( United China and Glass Company)metallic foil sticker. UCAGCO was an importer of Asian products in the 1940's and 50's.
There is some white clouding on the body of the vase (pictured above) which cannot be cleaned thus indicating a manufacturer's flaw. The item's price reflects this flaw.
